I am currently teaching in a 61 VW Golf 2.0 TDi, one of the safest cars in it’s class and most certainly one of the more powerful cars used for driver tuition. You may ask the question why use a powerful car for driver tuition? A very good question that has been asked by many; I believe the best time to learn to control a more powerful car is right at the start, with a qualified driving instructor and the benefit of dual controls. So many young people pass their test, get a more powerful car and get themselves into difficulty, whereas this way they have learned how to safely manage such a car. The VW Golf is very frugal on fuel making our lessons greener than many. It is a very easy car to drive, has power steering, air conditioning for our warmer days and vision to the rear better than most other cars. It is a leader in its class and is of course fitted with dual controls for our mutual safety!
